Ephraim Smith

     Ephraim Smith was born on 30 January 1698 at Boxford, Essex Co, Massachusetts; Note: He stated in his Will dated 1788 that he was in his 82nd yr.¹ He was the son of Ephraim Smith and Mary Ramsdell.¹ Ephraim Smith married Mary Perkins on 30 December 1725 at Wenham, Essex Co, Massachusetts.¹ Ephraim Smith married Hannah Rice, daughter of Daniel Rice and Elizabeth Taylor, on 16 August 1733 at Shrewsbury, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.^2,3 Ephraim Smith died circa 1784 at Shrewsbury, Worcester Co, Massachusetts; His widow and children deeded land which had bought in Shrewsbury from his brother Nathan to his son Daniel's son, Lewis in 1786.
On 1 Apr 1788, a listing of debts and inventory of assets was made. There was an earlier list of debts made 1784.^4,1 His estate was probated on 3 September 1788 at Worcester Co, Massachusetts; The remainder of his estate, after debts were disbursed as: Hannah Smith, the widow, £9-17-8; Daniel Smith, his eldest son, £4-18-10; Aaron Smith, Moses Smith, Wilam Smith, Asa Smith, and Elizabeth Johnson, £2-9-5 to each, and several grandchildren received small amounts.⁵
