     Moses Smith was born on 25 January 1738/39 at Shrewsbury, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Ephraim Smith and Hannah Rice. Moses Smith married Lydia Smith, daughter of Zachariah Smith and Lydia Hastings, on 30 April 1760 at Shrewsbury, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.1,2 Moses Smith married Thankful Holland on 24 August 1814 at Barre, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.3 Moses Smith died on 1 September 1815 at Barre, Worcester Co, Massachusetts, at age 76.4 He was buried at Barre, Worcester Co, Massachusetts. His estate was probated on 17 October 1815 at Templeton, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.5
     He left a will on 5 August 1815 at Barre, Worcester Co, Massachusetts; Moses Smith gave to Thankful, his "beloved wife the free use and improvement of one third part of my real estate, with one half of my pew in the meeting house in Barre during her natural life, also all the neat stock and household furmiture that she brought with her, with my horse and chaise and harness for the same to be at her disposal."
He gave his daughter, Hannah Frost, wife of Daniel Frost, one hundred dollars and also a note of hand that I hold against the said Daniel of fifty six dollars and sixty seven cents.
He also gave to the heirs of his son Ephraim Smith fifty dollars.
Son Seth Smith was left forty dollars, daughter Lydia Gleason, wife of Seth Gleason, one hundred and fifty dollars; To the heirs Thankful Sherman, deceased wife of Jonathan Sherman, one hundred and fifty dollars; To daughter Chloe "Paterson, wife of Danford Paterson", one hundred and fifty dollars; Son Eber Smith was given one hundred and fifty dollars. Daughter Miriam Newton, wife of Dana Newton, one hundred and fifty dollars; Daughter Candis White, wife of Ebenezer White, one hundred and fifty dollars; Granddaughters, Susannah Smith, Hannah Smith, and Loanthy Sherman, fifteen dollars each;
To Holland Randal two thirds of his real estate, with the other third at his mother's death, and his farming tools.
And lastly, all his personal estate, left after his debts and funeral costs were paid, to be divided to his daughters.5
