     Hannah Smith was born circa 1856 at Leeds, Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of Edward S. Smith and Elizabeth Curry. Hannah Smith married Thomas Smithson, son of Christopher Smithson, on 30 October 1880 at St Peter's, Leeds, Yorkshire, England; Thomas Smithson was aged 23, a miner living on Marsh Lane. Hannah Smith was aged 24, and lived on Middle Row.1,2 Hannah Smith died in 1931.
     She witnessed the marriage of James Dean and Frances Shores Smith on 9 December 1878 at St Peter's Church, Leeds, Yorkshire, England; James was listed as a hackle pin grinder, residing Front Row, son of James Dean, a cloth dresser. Frances was a 20 year old spinster, residing Front Street, daughter of Edward Smith, moulder.3,4 Hannah Smith was a "Hemp Winder At Factory" in 1881.2 She and Thomas Smithson appeared on the census of 1881 at 19 Clapham Street, Holbeck, Yorkshire, England.2 Hannah Smith appeared on the census of 1901 at 117 Elland Rd?, Holbeck, Yorkshire, England.5
