Thomas Scott

     Thomas Scott was born before 1765. He was the son of Walter Scott and Mary (?) Thomas Scott married Anna Willoughby circa 1787 at probably Quebec. Thomas Scott died after 1838 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹
     On 4 March 1816, a Donation by Thomas Scott, Sr., to Thomas Scott, Jr., both of Noyan, was passed before Leon Lalanne, notary. Thomas Scott Sr. gives to his son Lot# 7 in the 4th Concession of Noyan in exchange for 5 pounds lawful money of the Province to be paid to him on January 1st each year. Beneath their signatures, it says Anna Willoughby, the wife of Thomas Scott, voluntarily agreed to the arrangement. Her first name was originally in the document as Nancy, but was struck out and Anna was written in.² He appeared on the census of 1825 at St Georges Parish, Quebec, Quebec; Thomas Scott, family of two. One married male over 60 and a married woman over 45.³ It is still unknown what date Thomas Scott Sr. actually died. No will or estate records have been located as yet. It is supposed that he died after 1838 since his wife's death record mentions she was Thomas' wife, not his widow. Although, it is surprising that his death is not located within those same Anglican records.
Since brother James Scott had gone to Blairfindie by 1816, it is possible that Thomas Scott went to visit him at some point and died there. In any case, given more time and further investigation, I suspect that his death will finally be located.⁴
