William Scott was born on 1 September 1793 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He was the son of Thomas Scott and Anna Willoughby. William Scott married Prudence Covey, daughter of Samuel Covey Jr. and Permelia Burr, on 15 August 1816 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.² William Scott died on 6 December 1883 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec, at age 90.^3,4 He was buried on 8 December 1883 at Union Cemetery, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.^5,4

He witnessed the marriage of John Scott and Mary Tallman on 7 May 1821 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; Mary was widow of John Spoor of Noyan and John Scott was also of Noyan.⁶ William Scott appeared on the census of 1851 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; William Scott, farmer, b. Canada, Episcopalian, 59, Prudence, 53, Daniel, 17, Elvira, 12, and William, 8.⁷ He appeared on the census of 1871 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; William Scott, 77, b. Quebec, Prudence, 73, W.L. Scott, 26 and Rachael Almira Scott, 30.⁸
