     James Covey was born on 6 April 1815 at Caldwell's Manor, (now Missisquoi Co), Quebec.1 He was the son of James Covey and Elizabeth (?) James Covey was baptized on 2 July 1815 at Caldwell's Manor, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 He married Cornelia Burzee circa 1848; The History of Jackson and Clark Cos. states that James Covey had been married before Cornelia, and had the three children, Charles, William and "Louis" by that early marriage.3 James Covey died after 1889 at New York.4
     He appeared on the census of 31 October 1850 at Clinton, Clinton Co, New York; James Covey, 34, Cornelia, 27, both b. VT, Charles, 11, William, 7, Louisa M., 5 and Albert L., 2, all b. NY.5 He appeared on the census of 16 August 1860 at Clinton, Clinton Co, New York; James Covy, 35, Betsy, 36, William, 16, Albert, 13, Louis M., 14, Melvina, 10, Louisa, 6, Sarah, 5, John, 3 and Joseph, 1.6 He appeared on the census of 1880 at Thurman, Warren Co, New York; James Covey, 66, farmer, parents and himself all born VT, wife Cornelia, 57, b. NY, sons Joseph, 20 and Alvin, 16.4
