Sylvester Tallman

     Sylvester Tallman was born on 1 April 1862 at Quebec.¹ He was the son of Daniel S. Tallman and Delia Stringer. Sylvester Tallman married Marie Eliza Brassard. Sylvester Tallman died on 19 June 1939 at Saranac, Clinton Co, New York, at age 77.¹ He was buried at Independence Cemetery, Saranac, Clinton Co, New York.²
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Ellenburg, Clinton Co, New York; Sylvester "Toleman" was aged 18, and working as a hotel porter for William and Martha Smith and their hotel.³ He appeared on the census of 3 January 1920 at Ellenburg, Clinton Co, New York; Sylvester and wife Eliza were both aged about 59 years old, and the only child still at home with them was John, then 15.⁴ He appeared on the census of 1930 at Saranac, Clinton Co, New York; In 1930, Sylvester was living with his daughter Florence's and her husband Edward Gadway and thier children in Saranac.⁵
