Isaac Hilliker Jr. was born on 11 February 1854 at Swanton, Franklin Co, Vermont. He was the son of Isaac Hilliker. Isaac Hilliker Jr. married Jane Covey, daughter of Stephen Covey and Eliza Jane Partlow, on 17 June 1877 at West Swanton, Franklin Co, Vermont.1 Isaac Hilliker Jr. died on 24 June 1896 at Swanton, Franklin Co, Vermont, at age 42; Isaac was 42 years old, and his death was accidental.
"Isaac Hilliker, of Swanton, was instantly killed at "Nigger" crossing June 24 by No 66 train. He was walking on the track and paid no attention to warnings from either bell or whistle. It is reported that he was intoxicated . His head was nearly severed from his body and he was terribly mangled. The remains were brought to the baggage room in the depot and an inquest held by the selectman.
Hilliker was a man about 40 years old, a wdower, with four children. He was seen in the depot a short time before the accident and although he had a ticket said he was going to walk home. The remains were sent to West Swanton this morning."2,3
