     Carey Spurgeon Wood was born on 23 March 1897 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1 He was the son of William Judson Wood and Eveline Daley. Carey Spurgeon Wood married Mamie Etta Smith. Carey Spurgeon Wood died on 18 May 1980 at St Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 83; "The death of Carie Sturgon [sic] Wood of Otter Lake, husband of the late Mamie (Smith) Wood occurred on Sunday at St Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late William J. and Eveline (Daley) Wood and has been a life-long resident of this area. He was a Baptist by faith. Prior to his retirement he had been employed with the New Brunswick Gas co Ltd., for many years. He had also been employed by Burma and Speedy Propane.
He is survived by two grandsons, David Kierstead of Upper Loch Lomond and Elmer Keirstead Jr. of Brown's Flat, six great- granchildren, several nieces and nephews. The body is resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row. The funeral will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Wednesday with service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Milbury officiating. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday."2 He was buried on 21 May 1980 at Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick;      Carey was buried in the Garden of Serman of the Mount, Lot 2 C space 1.3,4
     He lived in 1923 at Alma Avenue, East Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; He was shown to be a laborer.5 He witnessed the marriage of Nicolai Larsen and Audrey May Wood Davidson on 20 June 1931 at Edith Avenue Baptist Church, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Nicolai was aged 22 years and a mechanic, while Audrey was 19. Both were Baptists living in East Saint John.6
