Esther MacDonald

     Esther MacDonald was born circa 1861 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.¹ She was the daughter of George E. MacDonald and Mary Ann Rodgers.¹ Esther MacDonald married William Charles Wood, son of William D. Wood and Olivia Hovey Williams, on 21 March 1893 at F.C. Baptist Church, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick. Esther MacDonald died on 29 May 1944 at Municipal Home, E. Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Her nephew, David Ackerley of Green Street, East Saint John ordered the burial with Brenan's Funeral Home. Esther was aged 83 years.^2,1 She was buried on 30 May 1944 at Methodist Burying Ground, East Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; "The funeral of Mrs. Esther MacDonald Wood, 83, widow of Charles W. Wood, whose death occurred at East Saint John yesterday, is being held this afternoon from Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, with Rev. H.M. Grimmer officiating. Friends acted as pallbearers and interment was in the Methodist Cemetery." No stone found.^3,1
     She and Florence MacDonald appeared on the census of 1901 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Esther Wood, 42, boarder and married, was living with her sister Florence Ackerly, her husband and two sons in Saint John.⁴
