In 1765, William Parsons, Jr, yeoman, granted Jonathan and Martha Bennett land his father William Parsons bought of Parker Sawyer. This was done as " exchange for Martha's interest in estate of grandmother, Abigail Eveleth Parsons. According to the family account of Martha Squires Cox in 1906, Jonathan owned an island estate with slaves in Portland Bay. He and a son were drowned crossing the bay.
