James Harvey Brown was born on 15 August 1854 at Fairfield, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1,2 He was the son of Alexander Brown and Charlotte Catherine Howard. James Harvey Brown married Rachel Campbell Howard, daughter of James Kerr Howard and Harriet Ratcliffe, on 14 August 1880 at Charlottetown, Queens Co, Prince Edward Island.3 James Harvey Brown died on 13 March 1929 at Fairville, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 74; He was a sea merchant. Death certificate indicated he had very high blood pressue, 190/120.4 He was buried on 16 March 1929 at Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.4
He appeared on the census of 1891 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; J. Harvey Brown, 35, Rachel C., 39, Chester, 7, Nellie, 5, Jessie, 3 and Florence, 1. James Harvey was a tea merchant and the family was Plymouth Brethren. They also had a domestic living there named Mary Heenan, born Scotland.2
