John Young Jr. was born on 27 May 1810 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Johannes Young and Lydia Ann Covey. John Young Jr. was baptized on 13 March 1811 at Christie's Manor, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Emerline Patterson, daughter of Danforth Patterson and Chloe Smith, on 19 January 1835 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 John Young Jr. married Margaret Stewart on 24 July 1852 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. John Young Jr. died on 2 November 1892 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec, at age 82.3 He was buried at Union Cemetery, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.4
He left a will on 20 December 1852 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; John Young's Will left the house and furnishing, along with implements of husbandry to his wife Margaret Stewart for her natural life. He left two sons, Hiram and John Nelson Young, the whole of property, real and personal, affording Margaret full enjoyment. The sons were to pay their sisters, Adeline Adelia, Lany Maranda, Lydia Maria, and Emily Young, 10 shillings each, all daughters of his first wife, Emeline Patterson. The sum to be paid six months after his decease. He left his two step sons, John and Alexander Grant, 12 pounds, 10 shillings each, to be paid by his two sons.5 He appeared on the census of 1861 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; John Young, Jr., 51, b. Quebec; Margaret, 43, b. Scotland, John Grant, 19, b. Scotland; Hiram Young, 17; Alexander Grant, 15; John N., 15; Frances H., 8; George M., 6; Anna E., 4; Margaret L., 2; and Emily A., 21, all born Quebec. John's parents, John Young, Sr., 80 and Lydia, 76, both born US, were also there.6 He appeared on the census of 1881 at St Thomas, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; John Youngs, 70, Margaret, 62, b. Scotland, Marshall G., 24, Anna E., 23, Ina L., 21, and James, 11.7 He appeared on the census of 6 April 1891 at St Thomas, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; John Young, 80, b. Quebec, was living with his son-in-law and daughter, J.N. Derick, 58, and Helen, 37, and their children. In his household there was also his wife Margret, 72, Marshall, 35, and Marshall's wife Mary, 28, and James Stewart, 21, listed as his nephew.8
