Samuel Waugh was born on 1 May 1844 at Ballyroney, County Down, Ireland.1 He was the son of David A. Waugh and Sarah Ervin. Samuel Waugh was baptized on 23 October 1844 at Ballyroney, County Down, Ireland.1 He married Sarah Margaret Bigham, daughter of Andrew Bigham and Ann Stranaghan, on 7 June 1876 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; Both Samuel, 32, and Sarah, 38, were residents of Newton at the time of marriage, and his occupation was a coachman. They were both born Ireland, and the record listed his parents as David and Sarah Waugh, and hers and Andrew and Ann Bigham. They were married by Rev. Alexander Blaikie of Boston.2 Samuel Waugh died on 7 November 1926 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 82;

Samuel Waugh, injured when struck by an automobile on Hollis Street, at the corner of Pine Street, last Tues. night, died early Sunday morning at the Union Ave Hospital, where he was taken following the accident.
Mr. Waugh, who was 83 years of age was on his way home Tues night about 8:30 o'clock after the day at work as a precinct officer in Precinct 5, at the Casino. He was crossing Hollis St to Pine as the automobile of J.W. Driscoll came around the corner. The injuries he received with complications that set in, caused his death.
Mr. Waugh had been a resident of Framingham for the past 25 years. He was a weaver by trade until his retirement. He lived i Philadelphia and Clinton, MA before coming to this town. He was a member of the Orange Lodge of Philadelphia.
Mr. Waugh is survived by two dau, Mrs. Ellen Downey of Philadelphia, and Mrs Annie S. Bickford , with whom he made his home at 102 Cedar St, two sons, William J. and David of Framingham, a sister Mrs Sarah Shilliday of Framingham and a brother James of Oldtown, Maine.
The funeral service will take place tomorrow at 2 o'clock from 102 Cedar St with service conducted by Rev. Hugh McCarroll of the 1st Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.3 He was buried on 9 November 1926 at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.
Samuel was a resident of Clinton when his son David was born in September 1876. By 1882 Samuel and Sarah had removed to Philadelphia, where son William was born. But by 1898, the family had again returned to Clinton, and Samuel was employed by Clinton Worsted Company. From 1898 through 1902, Samuel was a boarder at 12 High Street in Clinton, and then moved back to Philadelphia. He had been a member of the Orange Lodge of Philadelphia.
By 1916 Samuel Waugh was living at 56 Cedar Street in Framingham, Massachusetts and was employed as a shoe worker. In 1926 he was retired and living at 102 Cedar Street with his daughter, Ann Bickford, when, at the age of 83, he was struck by a car at the corner of Hollis and Pine Streets on his way home from a days work as a precinct officer for Precinct 5. His injuries, along with further complications, caused his death on November 7th.4 He appeared on the census of 19 June 1880 at Clinton, Worcester Co, Massachusetts; Samuel was listed as aged 36, working in a cotton mill. Sarah was aged 41 and kept house.5 He lived between 1886 and 1890 at 2046 Moore Street, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, Pennsylvania.6
He appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 at Walnut Street, Clinton, Worcester Co, Massachusetts; Samuel and his son, William, were living as lodgers in Clinton with the Godfrey family.7 He appeared on the census of 6 May 1910 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Samuel was listed as aged 65, father-in-law, living in the household of Arthur Bickford and his wife Annie. The census listed that his parents were "Scot-Gaelic", that he came to America in 1875 and he was a naturalized citizen. He was a weaver in a shoe factory.8 He appeared on the census of 9 January 1920 at Framingham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Samuel was living with the Bickfords; listed as aged 75, born Ireland, father and mother born Ireland. He arrived in the US in 1872 which confirms other reports, and says naturalized in 1883. [Series: T625 Roll: 709 Page: 209]9
